Role summary:

We are seeking a high-performing and detail-oriented nearly or newly qualified Assistant Financial Controller – External Reporting to support and lead the preparation of external financial and regulatory reports across our Gibraltar and Malta operations. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a finance professional to step into a broader position with increased ownership, developing expertise in financial reporting within the insurance industry, including exposure to Solvency II and IFRS frameworks.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparation and submission of financial statements and regulatory reports for Gibraltar and Malta entities, including both entity-level and consolidated accounts.

  • Own key components of quarterly and annual external reports for regulators, auditors, and tax authorities.

  • Preparation of Solvency II filings, including SFCR, and QRTs.

  • Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of data used in regulatory filings and statutory reporting through review and validation.

  • Tax and regulatory filings, including Insurance Premium Tax (IPT) and corporate tax returns.

  • Support the implementation of new or updated reporting requirements and regulatory changes.

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to support external audit processes, ensuring timely and accurate responses to audit requests.

  • Work with internal stakeholders to document, maintain, and continuously improve financial reporting processes and procedures.

  • Provide guidance and support to junior team members where required.

Skills & Experience:

  • Strong technical accounting and financial reporting knowledge.

  • Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills.

  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical capabilities.

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.

  • Effective communicator with a collaborative, proactive approach.

  • Ability to take ownership and drive improvements.

  • Continuous improvement mindset.
